The Family Resource Center in Painesville is in need of volunteers interested in teaching English to adult internationals, refugees, and immigrants so they can function more fully in the United States. You do not have to speak Spanish or a foreign language in order to help in this program. All you need is a sense of mission or calling to minister to ESL students and the ability to read, write, and speak in English.
Before teaching ESL at the Center, you will need to complete a volunteer teacher training workshop and volunteer application. Upcoming workshops will be offered for free on Thursday, Jan. 12th at 11:00 AM and Tuesday, Jan. 17th at 4:30 PM. Please call Amber Torres at 440-392-5548 to register.
You will receive ongoing support and training as you teach. There are opportunities to co-teach with a partner and to teach independently, depending upon your level of comfortability. The Center's Adult English classes will begin on Tuesday evenings (starting Feb. 14th) and Wednesday/Thursday afternoons (starting Feb. 15th & 16th).
We hope that you will consider this volunteer opportunity and continue to pray for our ESL ministry. We are also in need of volunteers to help with childcare and to provide refreshments for the ESL families. Please call Amber at 440-392-5548 with questions. Thank you!
